Abstract

Kristiyanti Maria Bawut,(2022) Students’ Difficulties in Speaking Skill at the Twelve Grade of SMA Negeri 2 Sintang in Academic Year 2022/2023 Thesis. Sintang: English Education Study Program, Universitas Kapuas Sintang. Main Supervisor : Agustinus Marjun, S.Pd., M.Pd Assistant Supervsor : Lailatus Sa’adah, S.Pd., M.Pd This research aims to analyse students' difficulties in speaking. This study is important because speaking skill is one of the most important skills, as it allows us to communicate with others and express our thoughts and feelings. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Sintang. The research design used a qualitative descriptive method. The subjects of this study were twelve grade. The research data were collected using interviews, observation and documentation. The result of this study was revealed that students got the difficulties in speaking because the students have problem such as Lack of Pronounciation : the researcher found that students have difficulty pronouncing english words they are still afraid misspronounciation, Lack of Vocabulary : the students have difficulty they didn’t much of the vocabularies, Lack of Grammar : students have difficulty in using grammar they made mistakes in simple grammar and third person verbs, Shyness or Nervousness : they were not confident and still embarased when they spoke in english with their friends or teachers, lack of confidence : and the students lose confidence to speak english in front of their friends because they think are not good at speaking english.
